SOCOM 4 composer Bear McCreary isn’t just writing a pretty soundtrack for the PlayStation 3 game. He wants to heighten your gameplay experience.

In the first of our two videos about the recording of the score for Sony’s SOCOM 4, McCreary (Battlestar Galactica) told us about some of the obscure ethnic instrumentation that will be featured in the game.

Today, we get some insight from the composer as to how the music will affect the player’s moods in this military action game, which Sony will release in 2011. Then, creative director Ed Byrne waxes nostalgic about his favorite classic game music and how it changed the beloved Commodore 64 games of his youth.
