Video: Subversive Brain Age Speedrun Will Blow Your Mind

July 9, 2010

Why bother doing math when you can doodle?

That’s the life philosophy that got me through much of 8th grade algebra, and it’s also the driving force behind this amazing tool-assisted playthrough of Brain Age’s math problems. “Ryuto,” using an emulator, answers all of the game’s math questions with Nintendo-inspired doodles instead of numbers.

How does he get the questions right anyway? By crafting the drawings in such a way that he exploits the stroke directions that the game is checking for.

Of course, it would be highly unlikely — impossible, really — for a human being to do this on an actual DS. But as a piece of subversive art, it’s quite an achievement.
