Can Apple keep Mac OS X off generic PCs?

An online column looks at the various methods Apple may use to prevent users from installing Mac OS X for Intel on generic PCs. Hardware-based security of some type is seen as the most likely form of protection. Apple could also block workable drivers for anything but Apple hardware.
